Autumn is almost here, and there are still many things to do before winter returns. I have come up with a list of a few activities for fall that are perfect for seniors.
Pumpkin Harvest Festival
October 5-6
This two day event is located in Four Mile Historic Park. It is a country fair with a lot of activities for people of all ages. You can go and choose from their costumes and take an “old-timey” picture in front of the Four Mile House. You can also go and win something delicious on the cake walk. There are also many activities that are more traditional. You can come and pick a pumpkin from our patch or create your very own scarecrow.
Denver Botanic Gardens Free Day: York Street Location
October 7, November 2
The Denver Botanic Gardens is a 23-acre piece of land in the middle of the city. There are 45 different gardens, as well as 10 conservatories within these 23 acres. On October 7th and November 2nd, The Botanic Gardens are offering free admission to the most beautiful part of Denver, so join many others on these two days and experience the beautiful gardens.
City Park Esplanade Fresh Market
Now – October 27
Farmer’s Markets throughout Denver are festive. Street fairs, with live entertainment and friends families, and many locals. You will find locally grown produce, baked goods, and much more. The farmer’s market at City Park is the farmer’s market that last the longest this year. You can visit this market one day a week until October 27th. Between now and October, the locally grown produce is in abundance and will be at the height of its growing season, so make sure you make it down before October 27th to get the best produce.
Denver Arts Week: Night at the Museums
November 2
Night at the Museums is free event on November 2nd, from 5pm to 10pm. This event is based on the popular event in Paris. Free shuttle buses are available between the museums and parking, in addition to free parking, making it very easy to travel from one museum to the next. Many of the museums are going to offer music, dance and other special performances. The museums that are included in this free event are Denver Botanic Gardens, the Clyfford Still Museum, the Littleton Museum, Denver Art Museum, and much more!
First Friday Art Walks
The First Friday of Every Month
These art walks happen on the first Friday of every month all year throughout the city of Denver. The most popular walk with the biggest selection of art is on Santa Fe Drive in the art district. It includes beautiful art, music, food, and more. The festivities begin at 6pm and ends around 9pm. This walk is free and has a guided shuttle to take you around to the different galleries. This is one event that I strongly suggest everyone should attend. You will not be sorry.
I hope that this has been informational for you and that you attend these events this fall. They are very beneficial and you will have a great time while doing them. If you want to learn more about activities to do this fall, visit Denver.org’s 50 Fall Events.
On behalf of Manor on Marston Lake, an assisted living facility, we hope that you have a wonderful fall and find activities to keep you busy. Happy Fall!
